Our first Bruna trips happened in São Tomé. A small group of us, an island none of us knew, point breaks we had only heard about, and food none of us had eaten before. We have been going back ever since.
Where Light Meets is not about a trip. It was filmed on the island over those same weeks, and it is a small story about the light that connects all of us — the water, the island, the people who showed us around it.
São Tomé is one of the least visited countries in the world. Warm water all year, waves most surfers have never heard of, and — because tourism has stayed small — a culture that has stayed strong. That is most of why we keep going back, and why the week we run there is built around the island as much as the surf.
